In the UK, radioactive wastes and materials are produced by a range of businesses and organisations across the energy, medical, industrial and defence sectors. These producers are responsible for managing and maintaining information about the nature and quantities of radioactive waste and materials that they control, also known as their inventory. This Gate 0 paper aims to clarify the NDA’s strategic objective for our inventory work, review current inventory management arrangements and assess whether further work is required to ensure that a robust, sustainable and optimised strategy is in place.
