Details
Applications for the Mayoral Renewables Fund will close on 22 April 2025.
The £10 million Mayoral Renewables Fund will provide Mayoral Strategic Authorities (MSAs) with funding to deliver priority renewable energy generation projects in their own estate.
The Mayoral Renewables Fund will support:
- clean power deployment through renewable energy generation projects
- empowerment of local government to work with GBE to identify and address opportunities to meet national objectives on clean power
Applications will open on 21 March 2025. All eligible authorities are invited to submit the Primary Project Application form and, should they wish, up to two additional projects using the Supplementary/Extension Project Application form, these can be found in the ‘documents’ section. This forms part of the Great British Energy (GBE) Local Power Plan, aimed at enhancing energy security, reducing carbon emissions, and generating renewable energy in communities across the UK.
Eligibility
All MSAs are eligible to apply for funding. Full detail on the eligibility criteria can be found in the scheme guidance.

Timescales
The timescale for applications is as follows:

The funding period for this grant will be financial year 2025 to 2026. The project deliverables must be submitted to the department by 31 March 2026.
