This document explains how Extended Special Unpaid Leave, (ExSUL) commonly referred to as a career break enables officers to take a period of approved unpaid absence from the MOD Police in excess of three months to do something that is of direct or indirect benefit for the business and the individual. The MOD Police recognises that ExSUL is a valuable strategic work force planning tool and an important element in ensuring that the Department maintains its positive flexible working profile as an employer of choice.

This document cross refers to the Ministry of Defence Police Conduct Regulations.
