A Memorandum of Understanding has been agreed by the Ministry of Justice, HM Prison and Probation Service and HM Inspectorate of Probation for the oversight of probation services in England and Wales.

Details

The Memorandum of Understanding sets out a clear and unified approach to oversight of the probation system as from the introduction of HM Inspectorate of Probation’s new inspection methodology from April 2018. It sets out for providers of probation services and for the wider public the oversight model, its key working relationships and underlying principles, as well as the key aspirations for the oversight of probation.

The memorandum is published on the HM Inspectorate of Probation website.
