This guidance explains the Competition and Markets Authority’s existing practice in this area, providing greater transparency for those within the scope of final merger and market undertakings and orders and their advisers and representatives.

11 May 2023: Updated guidance published

Following the Competition and Market Authority (CMA)’s consultation on the matter, this guidance has been updated to reflect the changes that the CMA is making to its process for issuing directions to parties. These changes improve the efficiency of the process and the subsequent administrative burden on the CMA and relevant parties, by combining two separate consultation stages into a single consultation stage.
