This report is the final report of the Trust Special Administrators that was presented to Monitor.

Monitor laid the final report before Parliament on Wednesday 18 December 2013.

Dissolution of the trust

On Thursday 16 January 2014, Monitor confirmed that it was satisfied that the Trust Special Administrators’ recommendations were the most appropriate solution for the local health economy that could be found in the circumstances, and that all the relevant tests had been met.

Monitor confirmed approval of the Trust Special Administrators’ proposal to dissolve Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust and passed the Trust Special Administrators’ recommendations to the Secretary of State for Health.

On 26 February 2014 the Secretary of State for Health approved the Trust Special Administrators’ principal recommendation, to dissolve the Trust.
