Details

This report examines whether there is a shortage of teachers or teachers in specific subjects to fill through non-European Economic Area (EEA) migration.

The government’s commission related to all teaching professionals in nursery, primary, secondary and special needs education in both the state and private sectors.

The commission was specific to job titles or subjects that fell within the following Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) codes:

  • SOC 2314 Secondary education teaching professionals
  • SOC 2315 Primary and nursery education teaching professionals
  • SOC 2316 Special needs education teaching professionals

The consultation on teacher shortages ran from 26 May 2016 to 16 September 2016.
