Agenda item 1 – Welcome and introductions
1. Brian Bell opened the meeting and welcomed new members of the secretariat who introduced themselves.
2. There were no comments on the minutes
Agenda item 2 – Social care data for devolved nations
3. The secretariat asked for feedback on combining devolved nation data with national datasets on social care, and to what extent this should be done. The committee concluded that the Office for National Statistics (ONS) data would take the focus, but differences would be noted and highlighted.
Agenda item 3 – Home Office (HO), MAC Secretariat and MAC updates
4. Della McVay provided an update on HO business including the focus on labour shortages and the use of migration solutions. Seasonal work proposition was presented towards ministers. End-to-end digitisation for processes for visas, and simplification of applications and extensions also a focus. She also gave an update on small boats.
5. Toby Nutley gave an update on the work of the secretariat. He congratulated Madeleine for her reappointment in her role on the MAC. He also gave an update on new starters. He brought up the suggestion of a sixth committee member. Toby gave an update on the 150 responses for the social care call for evidence as well as late responses and stakeholder evidence. Toby also gave a brief update on the social care report. He spoke about the most recent stakeholder engagement meetings. Skills and Productivity Board are happy for us to use their data for our next shortage occupation list (SOL) review.
6. Brian Bell briefly updated on a meeting with the Cabinet Office about shortages, and what we could offer them as evidence. They also discussed what the MAC could do with future commissions with regards to the SOL Brian also gave an update on the meeting with Care England.
7. Madeleine Sumption gave an update on her and Jo Swaffield’s appearance, in a private capacity, before the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (EFRA) Parliamentary Select Committee.
Agenda item 4 – Annual report and associated projects
8. The committee discussed the annual report and provided comments and drafting changes which the secretariat will action.

12. The secretariat agreed to provide a timetable to the committee of when they can expect to see further drafts of the report. There was no other business. Brian Bell closed the meeting.
