Agenda item 1 - Welcome and introductions
1. Brian Bell opened the meeting and welcomed new members of the Secretariat who introduced themselves. He also welcomed Revealing Reality.
Agenda item 2 - Social care research update
2. Revealing Reality gave an update on the themes they have started to find in the adult social care fieldwork. The Committee responded with observations and comments about their findings.
Agenda item 3 – Social Care Home Office update
3. Revealing Reality left the meeting.
4. Della McVay provided an update on Home Office Business including the launch of a sponsored route for social care workers following MAC recommendations.
Agenda item 4 – Social Care Draft Chapters
5. The Secretariat updated everyone on two workshops happening in the next month and asked for written input from those who can’t be there. The Secretariat updated everyone on the chapters of the report which have been drafted and asked for comments from the Committee and social care expert panel about the structure and content of the draft chapters. The Secretariat then introduced the first three chapters in turn and asked for feedback from the Committee and social care expert panel about if they were happy with the analysis within the chapter.
6. The Committee and social care expert panel suggested some amendments to the proposed content and structure of the report.

7. Brian thanked the social care expert panel for attending.
Agenda item 6 – Home Office, MAC Secretariat and MAC updates, plus minutes from previous meeting
8. Brian Bell asked for comments on minutes from the last meeting however there were none.
9. Della McVay provided an update on Home Office business including the end of the investor visa. The next commission for the SOL is also being considered.
10. Toby Nutley provided an update on Secretariat business. Toby updated the Committee on the progress of staffing changes within the secretariat, as well as about external stakeholder engagement regarding the social care commission. Toby spoke about hybrid working and how these might impact MAC meetings, potentially making every third MAC meeting in-person.
11. Brian Bell updated the Secretariat on his meeting with the new Home Office Director General Emma Churchill. Brian also updated the Secretariat on his meeting with the Shadow Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper.
Agenda item 7 - SOL indicators
12. The Secretariat presented details of the SPBs approach to indicators and asked the Committee how these can be implemented in the MACs work. The Committee provided some thoughts and some additional suggestions to be investigated ahead of the March Committee meeting.
13. Brian asked about information we have about what has happened to wages in real time and the Secretariat will investigate this.

14. No other business was raised. Brian Bell thanked a departing Secretariat member for their work. Brian closed the meeting at 12:35.
