Agenda Item 1 – Welcome and introductions
Brian Bell opened the meeting and welcomed the attendees.
Agenda Item 2 – Home Office, MAC Secretariat and MAC updates, plus minutes from previous meeting
A Home Office representative outlined the Home Secretary’s objectives for the legal migration system. They also spoke about potential future MAC commissions.
Holly White provided an update on the new skills framework linking with Skills England, DWP and the Industrial Strategy Council.
Brian Bell highlighted discussions around when the MAC might receive their next commission.
Agenda Item 3 – Fiscal analysis
A member of the Secretariat outlined a project initiation document on the fiscal analysis of migration. The Committee discussed the approach and agreed next steps.
Agenda Item 4 – Impact on housing project
A member of the Secretariat presented questions to the committee regarding a future project on the impact of immigration on housing. Different ideas were explored and next steps agreed.
Agenda Item 5 – Seasonal Worker Review: lessons learnt
A member of the Secretariat presented feedback from the wider secretariat on lessons learnt from the MAC’s recently published Review of the Seasonal Worker visa.
Agenda Item 6 – Seasonal Worker Review: Revealing Reality report
A member of the Secretariat provided the Committee with an update on the most recent draft of Revealing Reality Seasonal Worker report. A timescale for providing feedback on this draft was agreed by Committee.
Agenda Item 7 – AOB
The frequency of in-person meetings were discussed. Brian Bell and the Committee thanked a member of the Secretariat who will be leaving their post in the near future.
