Agenda Item 1 – Welcome and introductions
Brian Bell opened the meeting and welcomed the attendees.
Agenda Item 2 – Home Office, MAC Secretariat and MAC updates, plus minutes from previous meeting
Brian Bell outlined that the Government were awaiting the MAC’s Graduate route report on Tuesday 14 May. Brian recently met with the Secretary of State for Education to discuss the Graduate route.
Claire Smith provided an update on the intention for the Home Office to commission the MAC to undertake a review of the Immigration Salary List.
Meanwhile, the Secretariat continues to progress the Seasonal Worker Visa review, 2024 Annual Report, and work planning for the remainder of the year. Brian noted that the press conference following the publication of the Graduate route report would be held at 10 am on Tuesday 14 May, and that he and Madeleine Sumption would be attending the Home Affairs Select Committee on Wednesday 15 May to give evidence.
Agenda Item 3 – Annual Report 2024
A member of the Secretariat presented several options for the MAC 2024 Annual Report for discussion amongst the Committee. Another member of the Secretariat provided a verbal update on work strands and planning.
Agenda Item 4 – Seasonal Worker review: Introduction, Chapters 3 and 5, draft report
Members of the Secretariat delivered updates on their respective chapters. The Committee provided their views on the chapters of the Seasonal Worker review.
Agenda Item 5 – Seasonal Worker review: Chapter 6 policy recommendations
The Committee shared their views on the structure and content of the recommendations that have been drafted to date.
Agenda Item 6 – Graduate route
The Secretariat talked through the plans to disseminate the Graduate route report.
Agenda Item 7 – AOB
Brian and the Committee thanked the Secretariat for their work on the Graduate route and the quality of work that they have achieved at pace.
