HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) commissioned independent research agency Yonder to undertake quantitative research. The aim was to understand levels of awareness of and preparedness for Making Tax Digital of VAT registered businesses below the VAT threshold, prior to April 2022. Research findings helped inform HMRC’s approach to engaging with businesses that needed to act from April 2022.

The research had 2 survey waves: 551 interviews in June 2021 and 556 interviews in December 2021 and January 2022.
