Research background
We commissioned this report to better understand the Move to Universal Credit customer journey for Tax Credit couples and provide an insight into claimant behaviour during the three-month period after the receipt of a migration notice. Additionally, we sought insight into the dynamic of the couples during the Move to Universal Credit customer journey including looking into who read the migration notice, who is responsible for finances and who researched making their UC claim. Finally, we explored the factors that influenced couples to make a Universal Credit claim or not.
Contribution to the evidence base
This research contributes to the body of evidence on Universal Credit that can be used to inform Policy and Programme decisions in the future.
Research value
This research will help Policy and Programme colleagues better understand the customer journey for Tax Credit couples moving onto Universal Credit and identify areas for improvement in the Move to Universal Credit activity.
