This notice is for all

• owners and operators of passenger ships operating only in UK categorised waters
• ship builders
• designers
• surveyors

It applies to vessels which have never been certified as a UK passenger ship previously (including new builds). This original MSN 1823 does not apply to ships built or converted after 1 January 2018; these ships should use Edition 2. Ships certified under original MSN 1823 may continue under that certification.
