This notice replaces MGN 408(M+F) and MSN 1889(M+F) Amendment 1.

This notice should be read in conjunction with MGN 636 (M) Amendment 1 and MGN 587 (F) Amendment 1 ILO work in fishing convention (health and safety responsibilities which gives guidance on the merchant shipping and fishing vessels (health and safety at work) regulations 1997.

The biological agents regulations implement Directive 2000/54/EC on the protection of workers from risks related to exposure to biological agents at work and form part of the UK’s retained law. All the obligations in the EU legislation mentioned in MSN 1889(M+F) Amendment 2, which have affect in the UK prior to the 1st January 2021, are retained in UK law, with any necessary modifications, after the end of the EU Exit implementation period.
