This report is our explanation and picture of current and future flood and coastal erosion risk in England.

It provides the latest information on the:​   

  • source and characteristics of flood and coastal erosion risk​  
  • distribution of risk across England​  
  • potential for these to change in the future​  

Based on the data, the report describes how our assessment of flood and coastal erosion risk is changing.

This is due to:

  • a combination of changes to physical factors such as climate change projections
  • our greater understanding and assessment of risk
  • improved modelling and new data 

Flood and coastal erosion risk is not static, but is constantly changing as we adapt to a changing climate. This is our assessment for 2024 and we will regularly update it with the latest flood and coastal erosion risk information.
