New Zealand commits to developing an updated development quality policy to inform development activities that will explicitly consider disability inclusion. It will help us address discriminations and exclusions and assist in advancing the rights of people with disabilities. We will employ a Senior Inclusion Adviser to support implementation.

Commitments for Technology and Innovation

New Zealand commits to undertaking a periodic review of all buildings and structures supported by the New Zealand Aid Programme for their consideration of and compliance with our standing policy on disability access to build structures.

The first review would occur in 2019/20.

Commitments for people with disabilities in Humanitarian Contexts

New Zealand commits to working with NGO partners to develop a multi-year partnership to fulfil our World Humanitarian Summit commitments under the Charter for Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action. This will include building the capability of New Zealand humanitarian agencies to plan and deliver inclusive humanitarian action.

Timeframe and/or implementation plan (75 words limit)

Currently at the concept design phase, should be contracted by June 2019.
