Details

The Government Equalities Office launched the National LGBT Survey in July 2017 to gain better insight into the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and people who identify as having any minority sexual orientation or gender identity, or as intersex, and were aged 16 or over and living in the UK. The survey is a non-random sample comprising 108,100 valid responses.

This report, produced by the University of Essex, is one of a series of short thematic reports which present further analysis of the survey. It builds on findings already published in the main survey report and the data viewer.

The report presents key findings on healthcare amongst different groups of lesbian and bisexual women who responded to the survey, looking in detail at disclosing sexual orientation to healthcare providers, accessing and using mental health services, sexual health services and gender identity services. The analysis uses multivariate models to control for socio-demographic characteristics such as age, education level, income and region.
