This report looks at NMW increases during the recession and immediately afterwards (2008-2010). It compares them with the impacts estimated for 2003 to 2007.

The study, made for the Low Pay Commission by the Institute for Social and Economic Research, concentrates on 3 outcomes:

  • employment retention
  • changes in working hours among employees
  • the job-finding probability of the unemployed
