National minimum wage: Low Pay Commission report 2013

Details

This report reviews the National Minimum Wage (NMW), looking at:

  • the state of the economy, including employment and unemployment levels
  • pensions reform
  • Universal Credit
  • raising of the personal tax allowance
  • the proposed abolition of the Agricultural Wages Board for England and Wales

These findings help recommend the level of each of the different rates of the NMW which the Low Pay Commission (LPC) believes should apply from October 2013.

The LPC visits interested organisations and individuals in the low-paying sectors to gather evidence. This gives these sectors the opportunity to speak directly to commissioners about their concerns with the rates and related issues.
