To support the creation of more beautiful and sustainable buildings and places, government published the National Model Design Code last year, to support local councils and communities to set standards around design in their local area.

Monitoring and evaluation of the National Model Design Code Pilot Programme, conducted by University College London, has drawn out lessons which can help local councils across England to place a greater emphasis on beauty, place-making and good design.
