The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) provides the service of the UK’s national reference laboratory (NRL) for food microbiology for the following work areas:
- Listeria monocytogenes
- coagulase-positive staphylococci
- Escherichia coli (including VTEC)
- campylobacter
- salmonella
- antimicrobial resistance
These annual reports summarise the activities of the NRL for food microbiology, covering its 3 core functions:
- secretariat services
- advice and representation within the UK and EU
- method development, audits and ring trials
