1. New build fishing vessel survey guide
This guide should be read in conjunction with the Construction and Outfit Standards for Fishing Vessels.
This guide may be reviewed at the discretion of the MCA. Changes will be highlighted in the document and revision tables appended to the document updated.
The guide provides detail on the following:
- The application process
- Requirements for builders and designers

- Plan approval process, including drawings and plans required for approval

2. MIN 608 (M&F) Amendment 2: MCA New build fishing vessel procedures from 21 July 2020
This MIN sets out the policy of the MCA with respect to transfer of work regarding the plan approval, construction and outfit and certification of new-build fishing vessels after 20 July 2020, at which point MCA will take over this service from Seafish.
3. MSF 1356 Notice of intent to build
A notice of intent to build form (MSF1356) should be submitted to the Marine Office closest to where the vessel is to be built. This is the start of the application process for every newbuild fishing vessel of less than 24m RL.
