Details

This guidance helps local authorities and NHS England to respond to NPS use and problems. NPS includes mephedrone, 2-DPMP and some synthetic cannabinoids that are often called ‘spice’.

The guidance covers a range of important areas:

  • prevention
  • monitoring and sharing information
  • responding to acute NPS problems

Interventions and treatment include:

  • staff competence to deal with NPS problems
  • tackling NPS in prisons

This guidance was produced in consultation with commissioners and other relevant professionals.
