Details

Diabetic eye screening uses digital photography which requires the pupil of the eye to be as dilated (wide) as possible. This is achieved by instilling medication (drops) into the eye. This is known as mydriasis.

This guidance describes the processes local DES services must follow in the use of mydriatic eye drops.
