1.1 Have your say on changes to the risk assessment framework
As you know, we are putting in place a number of measures to help address the challenges faced by the NHS, including proposed changes to our risk assessment framework which are intended to provide a greater focus on efficiency.
Board members, managers and governors, please respond to the consultation by 5pm on Wednesday 1 July 2015 to help inform our plans.

1.2 Chief executives and chief nurses: nursing and midwifery revalidation required
How is your trust planning to implement revalidation for nurses and midwives?
Nurses and midwives are now required to revalidate when they renew their registration every 3 years. This is a recommendation of the Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust Public Inquiry and from April 2016 will replace the post-education and practice standards.
Monitor’s Nurse Director Ruth May has produced some key questions that may be helpful to consider as you develop your plans. Ruth is also keen to understand more about your plans so we can share these with national partners. You can email her at clinicalengagement@monitor.gov.uk by 26 June.

2.1 Patient level costing – what do you need from PLICS software?
Our costing transformation programme aims to improve the quality of costing information in the NHS, with patient level costing and a single national annual cost collection.
We are writing to all of your costing leads to encourage them to get involved and share your requirements for Patient Level Information and Costing Systems (PLICS) software, to help support the new costing methodology.

5.1 Submit your honour nominations by Wednesday 15 July 2015
The Department of Health (DH) is looking for honour nominations of people who have made an outstanding contribution to the health and care system, for the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2016.
In particular, they are looking for candidates early in their career to be considered for the British Empire Medal award.
The deadline for nominations is Wednesday 15 July. The nomination form and further guidance is available on the Department of Health’s website.
5.2 Update to the DH’s loan repayment notification process
Please be aware that DH is standardising its loan repayment notification process.
From July 2015, DH will notify individual foundation trusts via your ‘cash pigeon hole’ in the final week of the month, prior to the collection taking place.
As there will be no other notifications, you are encouraged to check your pigeon hole for updates.
