The capital funding programme (a £2.24 million fund) is for NHS maternity and foundation trusts to purchase equipment aimed at minimising risks associated with stillbirths, infant deaths and maternal deaths. This is part of the ambition to reduce the rate of stillbirths, neonatal, maternal deaths and intrapartum brain injuries in babies, as announced by the Secretary of State on 13 November 2015.
At the end of the capital funding programme, maternity services should have equipment in their maternity care settings and show how these will contribute to the improved safety of care for women and their babies.
The closing date for applications was Tuesday 19 January 2016.
