This applies to non-maintained special schools (NMSS) and is for:
- proprietors
- governing bodies
- trustees or boards of directors
- senior leaders
- staff
NMSS are schools for children with special educational needs that the Secretary of State for Education has approved under section 342 of the Education Act 1996. They:
- teach students with special educational needs
- are independent of local authority control
- operate on a not-for-profit basis
