Details

This booklet and leaflet can be used by police officers, to help detainees recognise and understand the rights and entitlements set out in the Notice of Rights and Entitlements. Each detainee and their appropriate adult must be given the Notice of Rights and Entitlements.

This booklet and leaflet cannot be used as an alternative to the Notice, or to the separate requirement in paragraph 3.1 of PACE Code C, that detainees are told clearly about their continuing rights, the offence for which they have been arrested and why they have been arrested and detained.

The booklet and leaflet don’t include everything in the Notice. For example, the leaflet for under 18s doesn’t include the complete requirement in paragraph 3.1 or mention the caution or the right to remain silent. However, it does contain other information which is not included in the Notice.

To order a copy of the Hertfordshire Constabulary rights and entitlements easy read booklet, email kevin.walter@herts.pnn.police.uk.
