Nuclear and radiological safety: follow up review of the UK framework 2024

A team of experts conducted a follow up review of the UK’s framework for nuclear and radiological safety, on behalf of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

In 2019 the UK hosted an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Integrated Regulatory Review Service (IRRS) mission.

IRRS is a comprehensive peer review of a State’s regulatory infrastructure for safety against IAEA safety standards, carried out by a team of international experts.

In January 2024 the UK hosted a follow up mission to review progress in addressing findings made in 2019. The follow up mission report concluded 19 of the 24 recommendations are now closed.

The government has published its response to the report.
