Throughout COVID-19 pandemic, our focus has remained keeping our workforce safe. Despite the impact of COVID-19, the NDA has been able to progress its mission and continue to deliver important clean-up and decommissioning work.
At Sellafield, we saw significant progress in critical reduction work including passing the milestone of half the waste being removed from the Pile Fuel Storage Pond.
Elsewhere at Sellafield, the skyline continued to change with work progressing to carefully take down chimneys and stacks in some of the oldest and most challenging parts of the site.
The fourth iteration of the NDA’s Strategy was published, setting out our approach to dealing with the UK’s nuclear legacy.
Earlier this year we saw our two transport companies, Direct Rail Services (DRS) and International Nuclear Services (INS) come together to create a leading nuclear transport and logistics organisation, Nuclear Transport Solutions (NTS).
We also announced our intention to create a single waste division and bring together our group-wide waste management expertise from the Low Level Waste Repository Ltd (LLWR) and Radioactive Waste Management (RWM) businesses.
