1. Purpose
To notify of amendments to the fresh meat of ungulates and live ungulates listings to recognise controlled housing conditions for Trichinella for certain EU member states.
2. Background
Following engagement with the European Commission, the UK Office for SPS Trade Assurance has identified that recognition of Trichinella controlled housing conditions was incorrectly removed from the entries for several EU member states in the fresh meat of ungulates and live ungulates listings in October 2022.
To rectify this administrative error, the UK Office for SPS Trade Assurance has amended its listings on 14 March 2025 to recognise trichinella controlled housing conditions for all EU member states. This has been achieved by amending the:
- live ungulates listing to apply specific condition ‘XI’, relating to controlled housing conditions in accordance with Article 8 of EUR 2015/1375, to all entries covering parts of EU member states with model certificates POR-X or POR-Y attached to their listing
- fresh meat of ungulates listing to apply supplementary guarantee ‘K’, relating to controlled housing conditions in accordance with Article 8 of EUR 2015/1375, to all entries covering parts of EU member states with model certificates POR, SUF or SUW attached to their listing.
