4 April 2025: amendments to import information note ABP/26
Updated 11 April 2025
Purpose
To inform you that an update to Import information note (IIN) ABP/26 will be published on Monday 7 April 2025, to clarify import conditions.
Background
IIN ABP/26 provides import conditions for the import of certain dried or frozen animal by-products (ABP) for specified purposes.
To ensure consistent interpretation and application of the import conditions, some clarifications have been made.
Title of IIN and scope
Amended to clarify the type of permitted ABP and intended uses.
Production standards
Information about labelling removed as labelling requirements covered elsewhere in IIN.
Documentation
Clarified some wording and added requirement to include species and confirmation of Category 3 material in commercial document. Information about packaging requirements removed as duplicated in section 3.
Labelling requirements
The new conditions allow for greater variation in how labelling and packaging can be used to identify the intended use of such products. There is no requirement to use specified wording on the label, other than ‘not for human consumption’ which must be visible on all packages.
Movement to premises of destination
Amended to include destinations that are registered or approved in accordance with assimilated Regulation (EC) 183/2005 and registered in accordance with Article 23 of assimilated Regulation (EC) 1069/2009.
