40/23 Welcome and apologies for absence

42/23 Ofqual’s response to the DfE Advanced British Standard Consultation
The Board had received background information on the DfE consultation which set out its high-level proposals for the Advanced British Standard (ABS) and Ofqual’s intention to submit a formal response.
The Board discussed the scale of the reform and its implications for qualifications and assessments. The Board gave a steer on the parameters of Ofqual’s response.
The Board was advised the closing date for the consultation is 20 March 2024.
Several Members of the Board requested engagement with the draft response before sign off and this will be conducted electronically.

The Board further requested that a final version of the response be circulated to all Members for information.

RESOLVED
The Board agreed to delegate approval of Ofqual’s response to the DfE’s consultation ‘A world-class education system: The Advanced British Standard consultation’ to the Chief Regulator in consultation with the Chair.
