Media Release notes
Updated 7 December 2017
Increasing the proportion of government spend that reaches small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has been a key priority within government’s procurement policy over the past five years. In August 2015, the government announced an aspiration for 33% of commercial spending to go to SMEs by 2020.
The Open for Business campaign has been set up to increase the number of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) bidding for government contracts. The campaign also aims to increase government buyer confidence in procuring with SMEs.
