This Wave 4 survey was carried out in 2022 when OPSS was within the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). This report represents a snapshot in time, with questions framed around awareness of BEIS.
This follow-up tracker survey was commissioned by the Office for Product Safety and Standards from YouGov and includes comparisons against previous waves where applicable. Its main objective was to understand consumers’ awareness of and attitudes to a range of product safety issues to gain new insight on OPSS policy areas, building on existing research and evidence and considering vulnerabilities and vulnerable groups. It explored topical policy areas including magnets and batteries, smart devices, and safety gates. Its findings were based on a representative sample of 10,156 people from across the UK with a supporting telephone survey of 252 people who are very low or non-internet users.
