To check how international qualifications compare to UK qualifications, apply for a statement of comparability from UK ENIC, the UK national agency for international qualifications and skills.

Candidates for teacher training with qualifications from a non-UK institution can also get help from Get into Teaching.

Initial teacher training providers should refer to the Initial Teacher Training funding pages for any questions regarding eligibility for teacher training and bursaries, or email itt.funding@education.gov.uk.

Details

The overseas degree equivalency table supports initial teacher training (ITT) providers and applicants in making a judgement about the equivalent UK degree classification of an overseas qualification. This makes it possible to identify the bursary the applicant may be eligible for. It considers all overseas awards that are comparable to British Bachelor (Honours) degree standard.

Applicants should speak to their preferred ITT provider or school if they have any queries about their eligibility for a bursary. It is also possible to apply for a Statement of Comparability from the UK National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC). This will confirm the comparable level of your qualification only; it will not compare the grades obtained.

ITT providers or schools that wish to enquire about the grade comparison of overseas qualifications table should email itt.funding@education.gov.uk.

This content was produced by UK NARIC. The methodology and recommendations in the document are to support providers identifying ITT bursary awards. Use of the results in other contexts is not recommended.
