Parole and the LASPO Act 2012

Guidance for Parole Board members on the changes brought about by the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders (LASPO) Act 2012.

Details

Under the LASPO Act 2012, the indeterminate sentence of imprisonment for public protection will be replaced with determinate and extended sentences.

The Secretary of State will have the power to change the Parole Board release test.

Other changes include different arrangements for determinate recalls and a new automatic life sentence.
