Pension guidance
Published 16 October 2014
1. Pension guidance
The government is setting up a free guidance service to help you understand what you can do with your pension pot when you retire.
The service will give information on what your choices are and how they work.
2. Get early access to the service
Let us know what you need from this new service so we can provide the best possible guidance on your pension options.
You can register your interest to get early access to the pilot service..
After you’ve submitted your details we’ll be in touch with more details.
3. New pension rules
Pensions will change in April 2015. If you’re 55 or over and have a defined contribution pension (a pension based on how much has been paid into your pot), it’s your decision how you take the money. There are different ways you can get your money in retirement.
4. What you can expect from the service
You’ll be able to get guidance on what you can do with your pension pot on our website, over the phone or face to face.
Our experts are impartial and won’t recommend any products or companies.
Whichever channel you use, the service will explain:
- the different pension types and how they work
- what you can do with your pension pot
- what’s tax-free and what’s not
5. When the service is coming
Pension guidance is coming soon. Check back to keep up to date with our progress.
You can also get information about pensions from:
