Details

The ICRC is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (RCM). Its mission is rooted in international humanitarian law and it plays a unique role as the accepted guardian of the Geneva Conventions, which form the basis of international humanitarian law. It aims “to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence and to provide them with assistance”. The ICRC currently has a presence in approximately 80 conflict affected countries.
