This further advice describes how an authority might better develop or, where required, vary their schemes.

The information provided includes guidance and a permit calculator for local authority use.

The Traffic Management Act 2004 required that the Secretary of State approve schemes. The 2015 Deregulation Act removed this requirement (England only). Schemes are now approved by council’s own order.
