Details

The 12th report updates parliament on the operation of the 2009 PPRS which covered period from 1 January 2009 to 31 December 2013, and also provided information on the early operation of the 2014 PPRS.

The PPRS is a voluntary agreement to control the prices of branded drugs sold to the NHS. It also oversees delivery of value for money for the NHS so that it is able to secure provision of safe and effective medicines at reasonable prices.

The scheme is negotiated between the Department of Health, acting on behalf of the UK government and Northern Ireland, and the branded pharmaceutical industry, represented by the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI).
