Supporting paper written by PHE on SARS-CoV-2 outbreaks in care home settings. This paper was available for participants to read at SAGE 46 on 9 July 2020, but not considered or discussed in the meeting.

The paper is the assessment of the evidence at the time of writing. As new evidence or data emerges, SAGE updates its advice accordingly.

This paper on serology is to be read alongside Investigation of SARS-CoV-2 outbreaks in 6 care homes in London (April 2020), 2 July 2020 and Enhanced outbreak investigations, London care homes (April 2020)​, 2 July 2020 which are also available on the EClinicalMedicine website.

These documents are released as pre-print publications that have provided the government with rapid evidence during an emergency. These documents have not been peer-reviewed and there is no restriction on authors submitting and publishing this evidence in peer-reviewed journals.
