PJ Lee & Sons Limited has applied to the Environment Agency for a licence.
The Environment Agency is giving notice of this application in accordance with Section 37 of the Water Resources Act 1991 and Regulation 6 of the Water Resources (Abstraction and Impounding) Regulations 2006.
The application is to vary and renew licence serial number 6/33/52/*S/0187 which authorises the abstraction of water from the crooked drain at National Grid References TL 40160 81750 and TL 40830 81680 during the winter, and to discharge and re-abstract water from a number of drains during the summer.
The variation applied for is to increase volumes as follows:
- 41,650 cubic metres an hour (increase of 740 cubic metres an hour for storage, 1,081 cubic metres for re-abstraction)
- 39,600 cubic metres a day (increase of 17,760 cubic metres a day for storage, 25,950 cubic metres for re-abstraction)
- 2,148,519 cubic metres a year (increase of 1,238,519 cubic metres a year for storage, 1,114,667 cubic metres for re-abstraction)
Water will be abstracted between November and February and stored in a reservoir. It will then be discharged and re-abstracted between April and October for spray irrigation.
