These draft codes of practice are made under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and the Terrorism Act 2000 to guide officers and other persons in the exercise of their functions.

They were laid in parliament on 22 January 2024 and will be debated in due course as part of parliamentary procedure.

The first consultation ran from 29 June 2022 to 21 September 2022 and sought to obtain views on draft amendments made to the investigations code of practice introduced to reflect changes made to the Unexplained Wealth Orders regime.

The second consultation ran from 28 March 2023 to 20 June 2023 and sought to obtain views on draft amendments made to three further codes to reflect the new powers to recover cryptoassets more quickly and easily.

The third consultation ran from 16 May 2023 to 20 June 2023 and sought to obtain views on the newly drafted code for the use of certain information order powers by the National Crime Agency.
