This briefing is currently being updated to include a new childcare provider type, ‘childminders without domestic premises’, which was introduced by the Department for Education’s EYFS framework on 1 November 2024.
Local authorities can use this briefing for people who are interested in becoming childminders.

Removed the requirement for childminders to undertake training courses. Training is optional and no longer a legal requirement as of 4 January 2024.
