This report provides findings from in-depth interviews and group discussions with 25 Prevent/Safeguarding leads in 25 RHEBs, and 12 other staff across 5 of these RHEBs.
Fieldwork took place between November 2020 and April 2021.
It explores Prevent decision-making processes and whether approaches lead to consistent, high-quality referrals and appropriate responses to risk.
Findings will help the department and stakeholders to support the higher education sector to meet their duties with regard to Prevent.
