Details

The Evaluation Task Force (ETF) was set up to put evidence at the heart of decision making, and to make sure this happens in the most critical places. The ETF has set 10 priority areas. For these 10 areas, the Evaluation Task Force will provide significant evaluation support and challenge to ensure that the most important policies and programmes across government have the best quality evaluations.

The 10 priority areas were identified through engagement with departments and HM Treasury Spending Teams, as well as focusing on tackling barriers to evaluation such as a perception that areas were difficult to evaluate and prioritising areas using the following criteria: cost, capability, complexity and coverage.

We will identify specific programmes within these areas where the Evaluation Task Force can add the most value and help ensure robust evidence is available to inform policy decisions. We are committed to identify programmes that are of the highest importance for government. The ETF will therefore regularly review the list of Top 10 priorities and may change these in the future.
