Details

Under the Gas Transporters Standard Licence Conditions (GTSLC), gas transporters are obliged to establish, amend and review a list of priority customers, who would be the last to be told to cease taking gas where such an instruction is necessary for safety reasons.

This is a letter of direction from the BEIS Secretary of State to gas transporters updating the classes of relevant customers to be included on their lists of sites whose gas supply is prioritised in the event of a local or network gas supply emergency.

The BEIS Secretary of State can direct gas transporters as to the classes of relevant customers and any other criteria on which their priority lists must be based. The existing classes of customers were established in the 1990s.
