This prison service instruction (PSI) contains information and guidance about what to do when a prisoner in your care is leaving the prison (being discharged).
It covers people leaving:
- at the end of their sentence or without charge
- to go to court
- to go to another prison, immigration removal centre or to be deported
- to go into the care of a local authority or other support service
- on temporary licence
This is a current PSI. It came into effect on 1 January 2011 and was last updated on 16 August 2023.
